Rooftop Solar Array Installed at AccuRounds

AccuRounds is committed to implementing green initiatives to benefit the environment and its organization. The latest endeavor in its corporate social responsibility program is the installation of a rooftop solar array. The company partnered with Solect Energy to design an installation with maximum benefit.

The installation is a 162 kilowatt (kW) rooftop solar array comprised of 405 photovoltaic (PV) panels and is projected to generate 187,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy annually. That is equivalent to charging 9,350 electric vehicles or 37,400,000 smartphones a year. It is estimated that the array will cover approximately 18% of AccuRounds’ energy needs, and is expected to generate $460,000 in savings over 25 years.

“It makes good business sense to invest in solar energy,” said Michael Tamasi, President and CEO of AccuRounds. “Sustainability is part of our corporate mission, with a goal to progressively make our operations more green. As we manufacture precision components for the solar industry, we felt it would be beneficial to install our own array.”

A ribbon cutting was held to commemorate the solar installation. The event also recognized Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, for their recent solar installation. AccuRounds and Southeastern Tech work together to address the need for skilled labor and filling the pipeline.

Following the ribbon cutting, AccuRounds hosted a STEM event called “Educating for the Future, 2020 & Beyond” in conjunction with the Connect Partnership – Southeastern MA STEM Network. This event brought together business, education and community leaders to discuss STEM education and how to prepare students for STEM related careers. Programs for retraining adults for machining careers were also discussed.
