Envision the Future Highlights

Envision the Future, a residential STEM camp for girls, took place July 20-24th at Bridgewater State University. AccuRounds sponsored a student from Avon Middle School named Elisima. The camp held three workshops: Solve It, Create It and Build It. In the Build It workshop, the campers built and tested underwater remote control vehicles. Elisima's team won a prize in the competition.

Rebecca Stone and Megan Zak from AccuRounds participated in several events including a networking dinner which challenged the girls to start conversations with professional women in the STEM fields. Ice breaking activities were located at each table to help get conversations going as well as learn and connect together STEM ideas. As the night progressed girls were asked to maintain the conversation and to ask insightful questions about the career path of the women.

There was also a resource fair in which the girls demonstrated their favorite aspects of the week. The fair gave them a chance to present their learning to family, friends and other STEM sponsors. Rebecca and Megan spoke with families and participants of the camp about the active role that AccuRounds plays in STEM as well as promote the variety of job opportunities that AccuRounds has to offer.
